Delegation and Deceit Acts Chapter 6 devotion

This chapter starts out loaded with hope and unity! It starts with the discussion of a problem, and the gathering to solve the issue. The conversation shined a light on a need thus creating an opportunity for others to serve and be used for the Kingdom. The apostles created leaders, teams, and delegated those to oversee ministries they could not attend to or help! And this wise move brought an increase to the Kingdom!

“So the word of God spread. The number of disciples in Jerusalem increased rapidly, and a large number of priests became obedient to the faith.” Acts 6:7 NIV

And with this increase, brought opposition. A remarkable man begins to rise to the top and the religious leaders could not contend with his wisdom so they conspired to destroy him.

“But they could not stand up against the wisdom the Spirit gave him as he spoke. Then they secretly persuaded some men to say, “We have heard Stephen speak blasphemous words against Moses and against God.” Acts 6:10-11 NIV

This is what happens when we are threatened by another’s gifts rather than make room to embrace and celebrate them! The first part of this chapter starts out so beautifully, discussing how to help the widows, and creating teams to take the lead. They were all about delegating and celebrating strengths. And this type of leadership advanced the kingdom of God. Take note.

However, the second half of this chapter shows us the evil and destructive powers of control and jealousy and how others were hell-bent to destroy anyone who disagreed or outshined them! Take another note.

Let’s this be our reminder-

Unity grows His Kingdom and His cause.

And jealousy and strife can tear it down.
