Good Morning Grit, Grace, Girlfriends. Let’s starts this Monday in a

proper way; listen or read 1 John 2:15-31 - This chapter is a lovely description of the Holy Spirit and the precious gift He is to us on this earth. Jesus is taking the time to share with his disciples that His Spirit will stay when His body leaves. This is the opposite of what happens in the natural. When our bodies die, they remain on earth, and our Spirit ascends to heaven. However, Jesus is prepping his boys that the Spirit that lives, walks, teaches, and reveals heavens secrets to then, will continue to do so After Jesus dies. A bizarre concept indeed. But let’s think about this for a moment: How many times has the nature of God come to you with His presence? How many times have you experienced a peace that changed the atmosphere of a room? How many times have you had the right words to say without thinking? HE is always nudging us in the direction we should go in word and action.
I have experienced Holy Spirit teaching, guiding, and even reminding me of scriptures I memorized, lyrics I have sung, and wisdom he gave beyond my years. These moments are clearly the Holy Spirit whispering to me, “This is the way you should go.” Isaiah 30:21 These Whispers have changed the course of my life and my family's life. One particular whisper set me on the right road when I desperately needed to know the way to go;
I was crying out to the Lord for direction. I was at a crossroads. I was afraid to make the choice I felt him telling me to make. I needed His peace, and I desperately needed his step by step instruction. I heard nothing. I went to my devotions for the day. I was reading a proverb a day. It was day three, and while reading, He breathed on two verses. (you know what I am talking about) They jumped out at me- Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge him, and he shall direct your path. Proverbs 3:5-6
I went to work that morning, and my computer gave me a verse for the day. Any guesses? You are right, Proverbs 3:5-6 I went to the post office to gather the day’s mail for the office. A monthly newsletter from a church happened to be in the box. Its header was “How to not lean to your own understanding.” Okay, I hear ya, God. He was speaking loud and clear through HIS WORD. Through my computer, through a newsletter, and the devotion, I just happened to be on that day. This Whisper was on June 3rd, 1993. And it was the moment I rested in the restoration of my marriage.
The whispers of God are not a coincidence; they are providence. God sees the end from the beginning, He is offering himself as our guide in this world to the next. He makes the way known for us to go. He lights the path with his word. He directs our steps and he leads us like a shepherd. If we know his voice and the many ways he speaks, we will always be able to follow where he is taking us.
But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ.”
